Sunday morning funnies...

Jesus was a hobo proclaims the page one caption on todays Sunday Star Times.
What a lot of piffle. One Robert Myles has graduated PhD from Auckland University, New Zealand, and winning the Vice-Chancellors prize for 'scholarship' with a thesis entitled “Jesus Was A Bum”. What a lot of piffle. This reeks of juvenile student drunks discussing philosophy late on a Friday night with a bellyful of booze and imagining that the garf they are spouting is recondite.
Further it is obvious that Auckland Universitys head of theology Elaine Wainwright and Saint Johns Theology College head Reverend Karen Kemp are deficient in scholarship themselves. Any reading of Jesus' life and his teaching shows that he was schooled in Greek logic that had taken root in Palestine after the conquests of Alexander the Great. Think Caesarea Phillipi for a concrete example of the Greek influence on Judaism and all middle eastern peoples of the time.
The reason Jesus was reviled by the Pharisees was because until that time they had a stranglehold on learning and Jesus was a usurper of knowledge that wasn't covered in the Jewish sacred books.
Without being cognisant of these facts the graduates of these august institutions are just fiddling around with 'interesting questions' and idle speculations and falling into the same traps as the theologastic fundamentalists who are incapable of interpreting bible texts because their own situation keeps getting superimposed on a culture 2000 years distant. Quoting a text and imagining that it means the same thing today as it did then without qualifying the meaning and context is lazy scholarship that hardly deserves that name.
It seems to be so much easier these days to let noo noo heads make it up as they go along and present speculation as real study.
Nah.

Punk Music
The change of the guard at Radio New Zealand has seen the advent of presenters who were kids when punk was “in”.
So now we have to put up with another era of idiots who dont know what music is. Pop music is always about style and punk was a style of angry children who wanted the limos, the drugs, and hotels, and jets and groupies and arse kissing without being able to play.
Or sing. The adoration bestowed on Patti smith is a case in point. This morning the new guy (fng)
Wallace Chapman, on Sunday morning played a piece of turgid twaddle by patti. She had one hit by covering Van Morrisons “Gloria” and then all the other no talents claimed she was the second coming. Essentially they needed to validate themselves by claiming that someone, anyone, had it.
No. Just more piffle, i.e. haircut and image and no substance.
This punk centred generation are the most intellectually limited generation produced by western civilisation yet they think they are the greatest because they don't have to learn to do anything to be considered creative geniuses.
Yeah right.
