New Zealand Music Month and the Government

as far as I am concerned Hoghton Hughes should be given a lifetime achievement award for his services to NZ music.
he has done more than anyone!

Watched a great VHS last night
one of HL Groups (HUghes Leisure Group) 30 minute jobs introduced by Willie Nelson and an album of Conway Twitty and some nifty duets with Loretta Lynn.
great stuff.
makes ya feel good!

More Music
King Street Live in Masterton about to get going very soon.
State of the art recording and performance venue.
Masterton looks like its ready to do some good  things soon.

Another VHS from the box last night, "The Proud and the Damned" with Chuck Connors. Great little  b grade oater with really amazing cinematography. outstanding in fact.
check it out.

My pal John the book man has gone away for a week while the plumbers fix his flat.
The old dude always has this book on his coffee table called the "Cloud Collectors Handbook" by Gavin Pretor-Pinney.
He tells me that everyone that sees it wants it and it is very pretty.
I think I am going to have to order it on Amazon unless clouds get in the way.
soon.
Its the best book on clouds I ever did see.
yup.

Talked to a lady this week who asserted that history is nonsense.
she has never read a proper history book but has a whole screed of  historical assertions that are little more than opinions.
Absolutely no conception whatsoever of the hermeneutic cricle or peer review.
Just what I think.
Its the modern way.
Everything else is junk except mine.

and the government
The Prime minister got up in the rag this am and opined that Wellington, the Capital city of New Zealand  is dying and there is nothing his government can do to fix it.
Simple solution.
Change the frigging government
they had their turn.
now turn them out!

As for Happy Gilmore I guess he was operating on the principle that its no good being the boss if you cant bash the hired help.
The Tory mask has slipped off and we can see the real desire for being in Parliament.
Threatening and bullying.
great fun.
The disturbing thing is that the parliamentary gallery flacks are treating  membership of Parliament as a sort of job when according to principle they are supposed to represent their constituents.
1984 speak.
again.
see the daily rag op-ed today for that opinion.

big swinging dick day for the wannabee power mavens trying to do a Chicago Boys style ramp up of the electricty supply in New Zealand.
basically they are just crooks who want to game the market for their own profit
they have the media right behind them who wouldnt know a watt from afrigging kilojoule and who want to get their free allocation of the sahres for their services
they have all conveniently forgotten the  events a t Dow Jones and how the idiots there took their eyes off the ball and nearly sunk the Wall Street Journal.
more adherents of the history is bunk school.
gimme the money now!

New Zealand Re-Constituted

bum titty bum titty bum bum bum.....

hehehehehehehe...

kept a close eye on the netball this weekend
no frotting
dammm

Conrad Smith
your time is up
retire dude..
we've had the best
skip the rest

Dragged out a box of old vhs's last night
watched Conan the Destroyer
a pissweak 27min doco on Jimi Hendrix
and a compilartion of 5 Steptoe and Son episodes
not quite as funny as I rememeber them but good enough
they would never get a green light now
not clean enough
ha ha ha fucking ha
and which reminds me about those who go on about British Humour. Manuel from Fawlty Towers is a direct copy of the Mexican in Rio Bravo
tee hee.

Power To the People
news was some dude raving Adrian Kerr (who he)  on about the market and spot prices
what he didnt tell us that jobsworths in the money markets know how to work the system in times of short supply or full supply to ramp the market and take a skim
New Zealand does not have 350,000,000 population and it does not need a supernumeray level of parasites supping on what should be an averaged out price and limited suppliers
This is not the United States.
the present system is just a nonsense erected by the National Party to payout their extreme supporters on profits earned off the people assets
If you read the SST on Sunday you would have seen a bag of Cocoa Beans supplied by the Cocoa Board of Ghana.
The world largest supplier
not a grifter in sight
no market
take it or leave it
btw
National Campaigned on the plank  that it was their turn
but they have had their turn and it is now time to throw them out

NZ Reconstitution
Good debate on RNZ Sunday night
some serious effort went into it and it is reassuring to know that any new constitution is not going to be the usual jerry built kiwi lashup that nobody wants.
Back to the Dompost WEEKEND
a flippant almost post modern look ar constitutions
flippant and a whole page of opinions
you know what they say about opinions
they are like ah ummm err noses
everyones got one
The Dompost will be derelict in their duty if this is the level of their contribution
and when can we see which and what priciples Maori want embedded in the constitution
The Maori Party started this so where are their scholars with a reasoned anlysis of the principles
one principle would be no taxation without representation but so far all we get is the word 'principle' with no explanations
are non maori and pakeha expected to just swallow this
surely they can do better than that
and just for good measure:
"The King is not the nations representative but its clerk"
Maximillien de Robespierre

do you seeeeee heeeeem?

big feature on the Eagles this morning
must be a big marketing push coming up
On The Border my favourite Eagles lp by a country mile....
Aaron Gilmore
what a drip
expostulating in the rag this morning that he is what he is and he cant change.
he doesn't want to change
being a boor is fun.
got a cheapie Jefferson Airplane album yesterday
weird band dude
all their albums sound like they were recorded underwater but Grace Slick is the chick!
5 minute version of 'Get Together" and a really nice version of White Rabbit.
I like palying white rabbit but I am always a bit dubious about doing 60's drug songs in public.
its all over for the unknown soldier
yes indeedy

rain grey town...

well known for its sound
in places
small faces unbound...

hah
picked up a vhs of To Sir With Love and Jimi Hendrix at Monterey this morning.
they come and they go
just like michaelangelo
put out $12 for 2cd's at the redshed this morning too.
looking for some black teeshirts but they still have last years stock and there is something funny in the material?
otherwise they would all be sold by now!
anyway its grey and cold.
my bones dont seem to want to work and I have to walk home.
Have played the Jackson flat out for 6 days now and its over.
I need a rest from high intensity twangling.
I aint 16 no more.
oh the cd's...
one Jefferson Airplane compilation
usually dodgy but at $4.99 then a no brainer plus a 2cd set by Muddy Waters.
some of the early riffing material and some 12 bars.
I hope.
The paper is full of the new local body arrangements.
its all murky but the upshot will be a seat on the Wellington Regional Council.
so they all doin' the dosey do till it happens.
they all want to be the big kahuna.
trouble is nobody has any cojones.
at heart they all schoolkids playing schoolkid playground games but that is not to say tha tyou cant get hurt.
hmmmmmmmm.

hey bird dog...

BBC imitating RNZ National and having a bird call before the main morning news bulletin.
No more rhinoceros calls though.
anyway who needs a new rhinocerous?
but RNZ National should note that the BBC ah umm err raises the boost so the call is clear as crystal.
dig?
thats about it today
dont feel like throwing any more stones
the old lady next door has gone away for a bit so I got the Jackson out from under the bed and I haven't stopped playing it.
mucho fun
this morning it was wasted days and nightsnd when I get hom,e I think I will give Daniel and the Sacred Harp a bit of a workout.
hehehehehehe
nice work if you can get it.
