silver threads and golden needles...

Silver Threads and Golden Needles was a pure country song till the Springfields  gave it a a bit of ooomph and then Linda trumped them all with her version.
There are other versions out there in music land but these three are the best. Wanda has extra verses which give the song its ultimate poignancy but Dusty makes it shine while Linda and her band ramp it up a dozen notches.
The Springfields version is in the key of A and has that solo which every other cover tries to attempt while Lindas version is in B. The masterful violin solo by Gib Guilbeau starts and finishes on the tonic while the vocal line starts on the 5th so take your pick kiddies when you doing your own thing and/or you want to play the song on your harp.
