The Philosopher Socrates was executed in ancient Athens for his constant observations that the ruling clique might know how to make money in their chosen vocations but that did not mean they knew anything else.
Gary Allan trots out a whole list of spurious reason for this project none of which stand up to any close examination.
for example rainfall in the Wairarapa is mainly in spring and autumn and not in winter itself.

furthermore the rainfall serves to refresh the mighty aquifer under the river bed and to flush the waterway from all manner of nasties and uglies that have built up over the summer and periods of
low rainfall.
unfortunately Mr Allan and the other 19 businesses are seduced byt the magic words HARVESTING the excess water.
the people urging this promotion are only interested in their own personal share parcel and/or their share of the distribution.
furthermore if Mr Allan thinks that the HARVESTED water is just there for dry years then he needs his head read.
It will be used to intensify agriculture and push the boundaries past the ability of the environment to cope with.
this whole thing is rotten to the core and should be trashed immediately.
Now I should tell Mr Allan that I have a degree in business and economic history and if he wants to know how to generate more income in the Wairarapa for enterprise and individuals then he should listen to someone that knows how it is done!
