Get ready for when the Trust Lands Trust calls for objections to selling the Masterton District Council the land it needs for the grandiose erection it deigns to call an events centre.
If it goes ahead it will be the biggest waste of Money in the whole history of Masterton.
It is pure nonsense and amounts to squandering money for the benefit of one person and one person only i.e. the mayor Lyn Padderson who will get her name on the brass plaque so she can be like a crummy character in a ten cent cowboy book who wants to leave their mark.
She knows that she will get support from the contractors who have probably all been lined up already and the sundry other suppliers etc. I bet they are licking their lips at this very moment at the bounty that is going to rain on them at the behest of the mayor and her cronies.
It should be noted that the proposed Erebus memorial in the Parnell Rose Gardens was stopped cold in its tracks so don't believe that this monstrosity is a done deal either.
The mayor of Auckland realised that he had bitten off more than he could chew so it is not too late to bring this lot to heel.
