Yesterday

Yesterday was a shocker.
I fell over and I couldn't think or count my money properly and I think I stiffed the Greytown Library for a dollar on the VHS of 'Be Cool'.

It was very funny when I watched it in bed before the nod off.
My shoulder hurts like stink and I have a big bruise on my arm.
Its all this crap I have to take to stay alive.
I know Louis L'Amour says never mention your troubles in his cowboy yarns about what it is to be a man but hell I ain't no cowboy.
Anyway, I am still on the topside and that's what counts.
Not much in the paper this morning. Everything seems to be liminal.
The Rugby World Cup quarterfinals seem to have taken an age but the All Blacks should get the better of Argentines Pumas on Sunday night.
the Pumas are more stolid than adventurous and don't really have the firepower.
The Breakers kicked off their basketball season last night with a win and they might even go back to back on the Title.
Great Blues Show on Radio Arrow last night.
Dave really excelled himself but the 60's show was mawkish. D'oh.
Fan shows always leave something lacking to the musician who has to listen to opinions!
hehehehehehehe.
Random piccies today.
An observation. When we were kids we listened to adult music and couldnt wait to grow up. Now the kiddies listen to juvenile pap and think they are all grown up!

Abduction, Philosophy and the Vatican

Abduction is a philosophical term for 'inference to the best explanation'.
If it is impossible to predict the future and it is then there is only induction and constant conjunction to assure us of any possible sequence or series.
You have to watch out for philosophers though. Basically they are ineffectual people who have substituted big words for the perceived psychological inadequacy of having a small penis.
Yup!
Since Wittgenstein they have also managed to fool themselves that when they are doing philosophy then they are also doing psychotherapy.
Noooooooooooooo.
to do psychotherapy you must have skilled training and experience.
In actual fact philosophy has given in and ceased to be involved with the real world and take a stand.
Abduction is also homonym that means kidnapping.
The boobies bimbo's and chimps from the BBC have kidnapped history.
all on their very ownsome they have decided that we no longer live in the christian era of  the year of our lord.
We live in the current era.The era of what.
What defines their version of this era. Who invented bubblegum? What is Britney Spears favourite colour?
Don't annoy pimply faced little juveniles who claim to be offended by Christianity.
How can these pampered effetes (where is spiro agnew when you need him) just make up their own minds about everything. They claim to know everything and what they don't know doesn't matter. They think all of the post modern garbage opinions of ninnies on f*ceblerk means something.
so about time the Vatican exercised some moral authority on these jerks.
time for the Church of England to get of its bum and do the same.
And James Cameron get to work and earn your money too.
What the hell is going on in England.
Are you a Chrisitian nation or not?

Abduction and into the purple valley

Funny grey spring day today. the tree across the hedge has suddenly turned green and the kowhais are bursting with yellow. The council trimmed the hedge two weeks ago but there is stil some of it left and the rain fills these red flowers up with nectar and the waxeyes go at it. Tuis too.
but they are mainly on the kowhai. one street over has an avenue of kowhais and the air is alive with birdsong.

dig the piccy of Ry Cooders cd 'Into the Purple Valley".
Very hip album. For blues players there is a nifty version of "Denomination Blues"
If you have ever learned "Step It Up and Go" from Happy Traums "Blues Bag" then you can play that over this in the instrumental breaks and it fits like a glove.
Much better than a metronome and you can switch to single note breaks if you please.
Also a great version of Leadbelly's "ON A Monday".
Most of Leadbellys songs do not do what convention says a song should do and you need plenty of wind to come in just when you think you should lea0n back. Watchout!!!!!
The rest of it is pretty slick and full of songs that anyone would be pleased to have in their repertoire.
Went to Greytown yesterday afternoon. We can use their library so I  borrowed 'The History Of The Blues" published in 1995 as a companion to a 3 part series on the blues on American Public Service Broadcasting. N.B. This series has never been shown in New Zealand. They just feed us bullsh*t here and keep us in the dark. Anyway it is a scholarly work I suppose and seems to have been cobbled together from every other book I have ever read on the Blues and the author plays favourites without reference to musicality. Norty. Sometimes it feels like a literary exercise rather than a labour of love.
apology.
I goofed dudes. The History Of The Blues, by Francis Davis, is better than I thought. In fact its very good. 5******. Find it and check it out. Some people say the blues is just a whole lot of fat old men playing something that they are now good at. That may be true but it is a whole lot of fun and the history of the blues is also the history of a part of the U.S.A. and you cant read it without becoming aware of the other so like many things it spreads out in unanticipated ways that broadens the mind and the body. hee hee hee.
Talking of the Blues, Rosemary Mcleod gave the Jive Bomber himself a serve in the rag this morning. Hardly fair Rosemary. We all knew Ricky was a pompous turkey and Cookie dubbed him Excelsior Gloom! Tee hee.  If you know blues then you can tell who Rick is trying to imitate in each song and his bands never had guitar players????????????????? But he never did anyone any harm and muso's need a safe place to score a Jazz ciggy. There is more to culture and music than fat ladies with tangled up tonsils and basso profundo Italians trying to hit low C.
I am going to sign off here and do another column later so hang in.

Mel Lyman, Charles Manson. et al

It was dangerous hanging out with lyman or manson.
most times you were lucky to escape with your life.
Whatever their bag really was it also came with a
strong dose of authoritarianism and summary punishment
just because "THEY" didnt like it.
HMMMMMMMM. where have I heard that before.
So the moral of the story is there is no free speech. Of course you can say what you like but any kneejerk who takes exception to that can track you down and let their self will run riot. In the end the study of history becomes the study of stupid people with overweening senses of self importance and even worse if they have the resources then they can make life very difficult for somebody at very little risk to themselves.
now thats out of the way it is time to ask why the local creeps are on my case. Now this is only supposition but the local mr be scared of me because I know some bad people hates my guts and I think he also does little repo/standover jobs for that party or those closely allied. I got followed around again today when I went to town. Well they either have to knock you down in the street with no forewarning but they cant follow you because that is stalking and the other is assault. They try and they try but before I did this I worked a lot of hard dangerous jobs and I know what it is like to get smacked... and get back up and those creeps are not going to put the arm on me. all you beatniks out there dig? And I know some people too. dig?

now for something completely different...
