lovely day out there today.
mucho sunshine.
Had to go next door to Carter Court this am and pull the seats back off the path so the old folks could take a walk.
the (ahem) gardener always pulls them onto the path when he mows the lawn with his ride on mower (a black one) but he never puts them back?
The benches were a waste of money anyway.
doh.
I hear on the radio the constitutional working group (who are they?) are in the north (wow) talking to people about what sort of constitution they want and how the treaty of waitangi fits in.
for a start the treaty is nothing more and nothing less than a contract.
How that fits into a new constitution without dragging a whole lot of aother baggage in is the big question.
secondly they should remember what happened when alcoholics anonymous sent out questionaires for their constitution.
they got so many replies that they realised that nobody would be allowed to join!
In the end they settled for a preamble of about 5 sentences that fits onto a card.
hows that for a piece of arcana.
thirdly they should take a leaf out of the United States experience and hold a constitutional convocation.
instead they are creeping around trying to fashion one out of nothing or in other words opinions.
Let some air into it instead of holding on to it.
Just like the standard.org they are in line waiting for the jobs.
JOBS!
even when they are useless.
just like the nitwits at the standard.
they wouldn't know a worker if they fell over one!
they think politics is played by the rules.
what rules?
Power comes out of the barrel of a gun.
Mao Tse Tung.
not some little turd waiting for their party to get their turn.
thats what it boils down to.
back to the constachewshun.
a frigging mess that only they can understand and so hedged with rules and restrictions that it wont be worth the paper its written on.
but meanwhile these anonymous functionaries will have the JOBS!
Dont let Sir Geoffrey Palmer near it or we will have another Fiji on our hands only here!
hahahahahahahahaha.
Wonderful little doco on Prime TV last night about the Magical Mystery Tour.
Peter Fonda, Martin Scorsese et al deconstructing if for us.
It worked.
Fantastic Artefact from the 60's...
They dont make em like that no more.
As Scorsese said everything is professional, polished and polite these days and the guts have been removed from everything.
circular but true.
its all PAP now.
I dont know how Dave Letterman and Paul Shaffer can keep telling the world how good all the rubbish bands are.
There is no grunt anymore.
Anyway it was good to hear Dunbar Sloane being interviewed this morning on 9-noon.
My dad was a bit of an Antiquarian and he acted as an agent to the wealthy's who wanted to do business out of town and quite often in our little state house we would have Gullies and Chevaliers and Barrauds hanging on our walls.
We had Goldies too.
I got ticked off once for telling someone they were just like the ones on the Railcars.
yep thats right.
ON all the little 44 seaters going over the Rimutakas there was a Goldie in an Oval frame.
I dont know why they never carried on that tradition.
Anyway its time for a walk in the sunshine and sing a little sunshine song.
in a rhinos bum!
