Had a good chat with an "Artist" I know yesterday.
He makes a good living out of it.
He does not starve in a garret turning out abstract representations of things that only he knows the meaning of.
anyway he gave me the whole artist splurge on why public art is necessary no matter what the cost.
it was like political correctness only it was art correctness.
they have a closed shop and they know all the words.
why is no one else asking questions as to why a third of a million dollars is being spent on some stupid thing that supposedly is going to make people say "GO TO MASTERTON AND SEE THE AMAZING SCULPTURE".
bollocks.
no one really gives a stuff except the little people who have managed to inflate themselves by spending all that much of the peoples money and the dude who walks off with the prize.
