Had to order Lintons book The Study Of Man.
He was sort of not reccomended when I studied Anthropology at Uni.
At that time they were all into the french obscurantists like Levi-Strauss who gave me a pain in th eneck.
As an ex engineer used to precision and stating the fact I could not get my head around deviousness and willful hiding of the nub.
Anyway it is nearly 20 years since I read Linton and I wanted to revise his study of wet and dry rice farming in Madagascar and it was just as enlightening now as it was when I first delved into it.
As far as I can see a good story is one that can be transferred and mapped onto other situations and still retain its fruitful and predictive nature and Lintons ethnographys do this.
