Lee Hazelwood was born on this day in 1929. He produced a few of Hal’s early solo records. He was responsible for bringing Al Casey, Wrecking Crew guitarist, from Arizona to Hollywood. He collaborated with Duane Eddy but his biggest collaboration was with Nancy Sinatra. And he was also a solo artist.
Lee was very big in France so in 1968 he brought Hal and some members of the Crew over to record with him at CBE studio in Paris France, May 1968. Video of that studio session used to exist on YouTube but were recently removed. It was Hal with Lee Hazlewood, Don Randi, James Burton, Donnie Owens and Chuck Berghofer filmed in May of 1968 for French TV show Bouton Rouge at CBE studio in Paris during recording the album Love And Other Crimes. WE WENT THERE WITH HIM ONCE ON SOME PERSONAL APPEARANCES AND THE FRENCH FANS ADORED HIM, LIKE JERRY LEWIS.. ME, DON RANDI, JAMES BURTON AND AL CASEY WERE JUST A COUPLE OF THE GUYS THAT LEE FLEW OVER TO PARIS... WE HAD A RIP ROARING TIME WITH THIS GRAVEL VOICED, BRILLIANT SONGWRITER, NOW LIVING IN ARIZONA..
