Well , I'm not in a hole I dug in the ground

no moon , no stars and the rain pouring down .

And I'm not in a bunker on Hill 63

Me , Hilling , the rats and the fleas.

No , I'm not laying behind a paddy dike

in some NVA's sights.

And lunch won't be eaten from an old can

though they say it'll make you a man .

And it's the end of November a bit of a cold day

but it ain't the 13th of May .

Not the 13th of May or the 2nd of June,

picking up the bodies of the platoon .

And we both know though we might pray

there won't be any incoming coming in today .

So , yeah , you can say what you say

but in my book it looks like another great day.
