aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee....

congratulzsations Serena Williams.
You managed to get out of here alive without the corn fed lowbrows and the 10 day mba's, all of whom think their own thoughts are facts taking a chip off you and trying to drag you down to their level.

lead, mercury, uranium...

metal was never my bag but like al lbands there were some good songs that stand alone in their own right.
And DB wuz okay.
Got a "Metal Hammer" special from H*dleys in Masterton this am.
On the seeyalater pile for 2 bucks but it was all about dimebag darrel (r.i.p.) plus freeeee ceeedeeeedeeee.
teehee.
couldn't pass it up. tell ya tomorrow if was worth it.

young mans blues...

Great item on RNZ this morning presented by Trevor Reekie about Mose Allison r.i.p.
Didn't even know he had p[assed.
there ya go.
and he played a very hip piano number on the outro.
they just dont seem to make people like Mose anymore.
Literacy and the poetic imagination have gone the same way as everything else.

but I must say I get a bit tired of all this lionising of musicians whose music never gets played on the frigging radio!

I just gotta GET A MESSAGE TO YOU....

got the beegees bio from the library yesterday and the house is rocking to barry morris and robin.
wonderful music.
it is so unhip but real coooooooool.
dig?
you just gotta have this!

go the rockettes...

Dan Rather slams media for acting like a ‘business partner of Donald Trump’ to boost their ratings

say no more.

pesky mosquitos.

second verse...

Went to Featherston over the interhols.
They are doing their best to make it a real book town.
It seems to be working.
There is a great variety including a military history shop.
I bought a copy of "They Studied Man" for not much.
I have had about 6 copies of this wonderful book that has been a real inspiration to me and I hope to countless others who have the door to anthropology opened to them.
One odd note is the slight disparagement of Ralph Linton in one chapter.
He was his own man and he fell foul of the doyen of American cultural anthropology Franz Boas who categorized him as a militarist.
You gotta watch out for stuff like that because it seemed to follow him round.
I always found Lintons published work to have a great depth and insight.
hmmmm
anyway I know a young person who will receive this about November for their birthday and I hope it is just as inspirational for them as it was for me.

Electionsnz.
I hope that there is a referendum to decide whether the Wairarapa local bodies amalgamate and it is time to ditch all e voting in New Zealand and the management of public affairs by private companies.
It might be hip and cool and blah blah fucking blah but anybody with any nous will know that it is the reason for the fall off in voting numbers.
and anybody who watched the recent presidential elections in the U.S. will have noted the huge queues waiting to vote with no grumbling.
Not like kiwis who want instant gratification.
And besides an election that allows a Mayoral candidate to receive 666 votes is suspect.
do ya hear that?

Dobble Trubb.
It might be just what America needs.
Now the cards are really on the table and and the omens are good.
The only comparison to Trubb is Warren Harding.
When his term was over the whole institutional framework of the U.S.A. needed a new broom because of the corruption that he had allowed to insinuate itself into the  public life and institutions.
Barack Obama is just the man to get the ball rolling.
go Boss.

you vote we decide

back to normal...

"Pretty Paper"

(The pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue)

Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your presents to your darling from you
Pretty pencils to write I love you
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue

Crowded street, busy feet, hustle by him
Downtown shoppers, Christmas is nigh
There he sits all alone on the sidewalk
Hoping that you won't pass him by

Should you stop? Better not, much too busy
You're in a hurry, my how time does fly
In the distance the ringing of laughter
And in the midst of the laughter he cries

Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue
Wrap your presents to your darling from you
Pretty pencils to write I love you
Pretty paper, pretty ribbons of blue

little girl: what is normal mommy?
mommy: its just a setting on the dryer dear!

Christmas has come and gone.
Received a beautiful handmade card from my dearest kin.
and a Sandy Denny vinyl album plus a nearly mint vinyl of Linda Ronstadt Heart LIke A Wheel) plus a beautiful hand reared rib roast of beef.
I cooked it for over four hours and when I pulled it out of the oven it seemed tough but in the mouth it just melted.
yummy.
ON Christmas day the lavender suddenly seemed to go off and Bombus Bombus turned up in large numbers till the wasps arrived  after lunch and beat off allcomers.
His nibs next door should do something about them but he is to busy trying to LOOK like a gardener instead of doing something useful.
anyway a pal sent me some $2 packets of wildflower seeds so I had to dig over some dirt and now my back and knee is really complaining!
merry xmas.
wah wah wah.

Got "Small Town Talk" by Barney Hoskyins to read over the holidays and it was very sad to read about the decline into alchoholism and drugs of members of the Band.
People (bottom feeders)would come up from New York to watch Richard Danko getting drunk.
the fuckers and poor Sandy Denny went down to the same disease too.
I know its only rock and roll and sometimes I hate it.

TeeVee back to its mawkish infantilised best.
I quite like the Avengers movie I have seen repeated at least twice this year and wonder why they dont repeat the mini series of Hollywoood Wives or is that too good for the peasants these days?

Memo to Serena Williams
You seem to be a very nice person as well as a good tennis player.
do you know what Spike Milligan said when he was asked how he liked New Zealand?
"Boiled and with Chips".

you have to watch it around here.
"They" would prefer it if you said something controversial so they would have something to go on about for the rest of their tiny little lives.

The Peoples Republic Of China.
congratulations.
when they write the big book of this era they will say that 2016 was the year China closed their domestic ivory trade and saved the elephants.
good work.

had to larf watching the Kansas City Chiefs on the teev.
They have a player called Mr Zombo.
how cool.

Now the big item for this neck of the woods this year is the amalgamation of the local councils.
Cant get a straight answer from anyone.
but:
"Reform is basically the creation of an illusion that something needs to be done when in all reality it doesn't."
You see when they are amalgamated then there is just a bigger target to snatch and  grab  off the ratepayers.
These people want a revenue stream in perpetuity for themselves.
hmmmmm.
People should know about one south American City that bought a hydro power plant in the late 19th century.
It has never been enlarged and now is the arbiter of social standing if you are connected or not.
thats what THEY want here.

last but not least. RNZ (Radio New Zealand)has featured a clip on their channel 50 about Bill english being a man of lettersfor the last month..
Other items have come and gone but his one goes on forever.
??????????

now for something completely different...
