morale, morals and inspiration. Eisenhower and beyond

Reading Eisenhowers Crusade In Europe at the moment. more like skimming but it is a story most of all about morale and how to maintain it in the face of uncertainty and risk. For some reason I am always inspired when I read Eisenhower. His sincerity and humanity oozes out between the words in a way that is impossible to describe but one always feels better after reading him. very odd. but dont argue with success. he had it and thats that.
also reading mark furlansky on salt. Hunters and gatherers could obtain it from eating red meat but once agriculture was created and estab;ished then it had to be added to the cooking process. Humans cant do without it. The Gabelle or salt tax was one of the causes of the French Revolution.
How do you like the fighters?
Without them Ike would have lost!
