Who wants a bet?
Dompost Diarist, one Sophie Speer reports today on new zealand MOVIE STAR Karl Urban who has the starring role in another production of Judge Dredd.
Speer opines that the previous version starring Sylvester Stallone role in the 1995 flic was a failed effort!
Now I have seen Sly as the judge and in no ways was it a failed or flawed effort.
Just because the new version stars a new zealander is no reason to pan the last one and I am willing to bet that Speer has never seen the Sly version or read an issue of 2000AD and also that she wont go and see the new version either.
This endless puffing of anything KIWI is embarrassing and Speer would do well to remember that when the piano was up for an oscar it nearly missed out because the New Zealand Press set up a nasty little cats chorus of villification against Steven Spielberg that was tawdry, demeaning and nasty to boot. The outpouring of bile ceased abruptly about 3 days before the night.
