THERE IS ONE IN EVERY CROWD...

JOHN FORD: THE MAN HIMSELF

Strange day today.
Ran into a Carterton Councillor this a.m. who told me that the Carterton Councillors were going to inspect Carter Court today but that the noro virus was rampant so the visit was called off.
Anyway it is time that the senior positions at Carter Court were re-advertised and consultants called in to make sure that local venal interests are not put before the interests of the residents and that proper standards can be introduced.
It should be noted that Carter Court has had four managers in the last five years. The first three were women and the last one is male which may increase his longevity but is still no guarantee he knows what he is doing and in my opinion he doesn't.
Staff relations at Carter Court are very poor and run by the divide and conquer system and for the benefit of one person who is pulling everyone elses strings and pandering to those who have any vestige of supervisory control or residents who threaten to re-locate.
The Board at Carter Court needs revitalisation also.
They are getting "SNOWED' by an expert.
In this mornings Dompost Wellington councillor Ray Apihene Mercer opines that local boards in the Wairarapa are more interested in the kudos and the free sausage rolls than in getting their hands dirty.
Inspecting the accounts once a year and getting greased by the eminence gris is not a good recipe for governance and if the noro virus epidemic at Carter Court gets out of control then the Health Department will have to step in anyway. and none to soon.
Back to Ray Apihene Mercers remarks I was talking to someone appointed by a Wairarapa organisation that was moribund. This person was a live wire and when he turned the organisation around the Nobobs emerged from the woodwork and he was swiftly removed.
So.
Regarding the ultimate fate of the Wairarapa one is tempted to go for local autonomy on the principal of self rule but the reality is that the councils here are just not good enough.
Carterton is ruled by a clique of retired real estate agents who are interested in the short term goals of land sales and that's that.
at every turn of the wheel they install another ring-in who deludes them self that they did it on their own while in the meantime the ignorati sail on in their plans for self aggrandisement and to hell with everyone else.

Watched The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance last night.
Fabulous movie and I might run it again tonight.
Better than anything on Teevee.
hehehehe.

Also leafing through Splash One.
A history of Jet Warfare.
I am in the middle of researching material for a novel set in the Vietnam War which I may never finsih but the reading is stimulating to say the least.
