THE SWORD OF Te RAUPARAHA
George Grey is in camp in Petone waiting for Te Rauaparaha to come and do a deal.
He calls for his best soldier to go up the Hutt River to Boulcotts farm to man an outpost.
cut to early morning Boulcotts farm.
We see a renegade troop of warriors cross the river.
The boy bugler is up early and tries to give the call but he is cut down and the bugle is stolen and the Maoris retreat through the bush with the bugle being sounded tunelessly to taunt the soldiers.
cut to
Greys men sneaking up at night to the Pa on the east coast where Te Rauparaha is ensconced.
They grab him.
Cut to
Auckland Harbour where late at night Grey is being rowed out to the warship where Te R is in custody.
By this time Grey and TeR have become friends.
cut to
Ships cabin where Grey tells Te R that the farmers in the Wairarapa have incorporated and are going to build a works for mutton tallow instead of just driving them off a cliff after they have been shorn.
There will be one final shear and NZ being a small colony the word has gone out and everybody is going to be there like a big jubille including Grey where he will have a gold chest to do deals and will pay off the ransom on the bugle too.
Grey has info that the bugle might be in Auckland at the moment and there is a possibility that it can be seized by mainforce.
Grey gives Te R a US Cavalry sabre for self protection and a pair of colt patterson revolvers and instructions to go with the soldier in command of the initial loss to try and retrieve the bugle.
He will see them at the Wairarapa jubilee.
cut to
Dive on the outskirts of Akl but the operation goes awry and next day Te R and the soldier set off by horseback to try and make it to the Wairarapa
Cut to rural mansion where the festivities are in progress.
Te R and the soldier run into some dubious characters on the trail but keep going.
When they get there they realise that their target is there and the gang they passed on the trail are there to steal Greys gold.
They bugle is exchanged for gold and they foil the plot to steal the bullion haul and send them packing but Te R loses the sword.
Grey gives TE R his freedom and he and the soldier set off back to Petone.
They are ambushed on the trail for revenge but Te R draws the sword and kills the pakeha criminal while his Maori accomplice escapes after knocking him out from behind in the scuffle and stealing the sword.
Back at Petone Grey organises a ride on a ship to take TE R home.
cut to
the landing.
the longboat drops Te R on the beach and retreats through the surf.
In the dunes Te R is confronted by the man who stole the bugle and the sword who taunts him and tells him he has the sword now and Te R is about to die.
Te R pulls back his coat like in a western and pulls the colt and delivers justice.

Nows hows that for the real deal?
and Te R calls Grey Hori while Grey calls TeR Robert!
