poor old lester bangs. he committed suicide somewhere down the lone highway.
he could play the harmonica. he learned every break. he thought that all solos on rock music were learned beforehand and he got a real surprise when he found out they were spontaneous and ad lib.
was talking to a non musician friend the other day and mentioned in passing that I really dig Dylans "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" and he said I suppose that Bob ripped the progression off from some old folk song.
Not so as far as I can see. Completely original.
I can play and love playing perhaps the prettiest song that Dylan ever wrote and it doesn't match any other folk song I have ever heard or played.
For any beginner guitarist there is in my opinion no better rhythm player in the same league anywhere as Bob.
