The late great Jerry Garcia began his musical life as folkie/country banjo player and his magnificent technique comes out in all his playing.
This album represents all that is best about American home made music.
It has a spiritual, a traditional white country blues, one of the immortal Jimmie Rodgers best songs and a Stanley Brothers (The Girl At The Crossroads Bar)song to boot.
Jerry always tried to acknowledge the Stanley brothers and this album combines beautiful close harmonies combined with ensemble playing of the highest order.
That does not mean that the humblest beginner cannot practise his G run against Swing Low Sweet Chariot and join the band.
