IN Cannibals and Kings the anthropologist Marvin Harris analyses infanticide over time in various civilisations and hunter gatherer societies.
Infanticide is usually the result of either environmental or economic pressure which is generally a concatenation of both.
In New Zealand the picture is different.
Here we have a large and growing cohort of petulant truculent solipsists raised on alcohol, amphetamines, cheap cars, hiphopcrap, and constantly assailed by extreme violence and human dismemberment in games and other visual media.
And the schools teach them there are no truths only interpretations and only their own thoughts are facts.
Added to that is the constant glorification of noise via loud motorbikes, modified cars and all manner of labour saving devices equipped with noisy two stroke motors and the country resembles a madhhouse.
Then they get up every once in a while on RNZ and the press and go on about the symptom and never address the cause.
That is the kiwi way.
