"I'm glad Jazz is not popular. It never will be a popular music. That keeps it special. I'll tell you- I dont think of this world as the place where things come together. We're here just for a minute . This isn't the place to say, "Oh Jazz change the world. "Well fuck the world. This world is always going to have ignorance, killing, hatred, bombing. The world happened to see Jazz and thats great. Good for the world. But jazz has nothing to do with this world. Jazz is bigger than the earth. All these cats like Bird, Trane, Ornette--you think they're gone away?
No. They've just moved into something else. How high's the sky? How high's the moon?
