democracy in new zealand...

the troops are flat out going to here there and everywhere to fight for someone elses democracy but in the meantime the whole country is becoming more concentrated and centralised and monolithic.
When the Wairarapa was first settled it was a model of the English county system and it all came together in some sort of organic fashion.
now its just grab everything under the rubric of efficiency or anything just as long as the power is gathered.
but going back to the origins there was nothing wrong with the system of local government then and there is nothing wrong with it now.
the thing is that all the grifters, carpetbaggers and other cheap operators can see another opening for gathering power or re-distributing it so they can get some for themselves.
So what has changed since the 1850's.
the short answer is nothing except there are more greedy bastards who want to get their hands on anything they can and now looks like one of those times.

Ron Mark.
The only man in the wairarapa with enough mongrel to tell the fat lazy sausage roll stuffers where to get off.
His job is not to be polite and kiss arse but to do the best for his constituency.
He is fighting an uphill battle at the moment.
The commercial sectors and the services sector  think that they will cream it if the amalgamation goes ahead but it is only a one off and then I suppose they will all piss off taking their ill gotten gains with them.
None of them have got a clue about creating lasting job opportunities or anything for that matter.
Just another gang of compradores looking for the main chance.
And the Wairarapa will be at the mercy of another gang of know all contractors let loose on the environment with showers of glycophosphate spray because they don't know how to bend over and pull out a bloody weed!
Just like the fat arses in wellington who have come to beleive that their word is law and the rest of us are just here to amuse them by jumping through hoops and tripping up to amuse them.
Well you can all fuck off back to where you came from!
