The killers are paranoids pure and simple
it is the hardest psychological disease entity to diagnose and can only be understood by practitoners of psychoanalysis. the others think it is a gene or lesion on the brain but they can never show them.
to understand paranoia is to take a trip into ones own mental apparatus and is a very dangerous mission to undertake as every single person has every disease to a greater or lesser extent installed in their own psyche and if it is awakened in the wrong person then tragedy will result.
Freud was the first person to examine this disease and he more or less was of the opinion that it could not be cured and had the potential to put the therapists life in danger if they discovered the patients "SECRET".
In short paranoia is a defence against unconscious passive homosexuality but to promote this view is to run up against the gay crowd and the nitwits who want life to be sweet and groovy.

It is nearly time that Freuds formulations were recast in modern form without the baggage tied to the history of psychoanalysis but we are still waiting for someone brave enough to undertake the work.
in the meantime the present government is devolving mental health services onto GP's and causing more trouble for people and society down the line when they are gone.

Well what the question for New Zealand is how to recreate that zeitgeist and make it work for us.
The reality is that nearly all the worlds manufacturing is done somewhere else and firms do NOT want to invest in pant and people thousands of mile away from home base.
The government knows this but yet continues to pretend that the next big industrial revolution is just over the next hill or round the next bend.
um things have changed. okay
