Back in the day when supposedly people had no choice there was marketplace for new songs and music.
It was called the radio (or Wireless) and every song was in competition with every other.
They had a Hit Parade, not a 24/7 genre crap bombardment.
Anyway Nancy and Lee knocked them out with little gems that not everybody but most people seemed to like.
They were stories that people could relate to.
