serendipity plus....

Wunnerful dqay in the wunnerfull Wairarapa.
All happening in Masterton this a.m.
Library booksale on the library square and a Christmas Parade toooo.
One for the kiddies.

Big ups to NZRail.
They dont f*ck around with pleases and thank yous.
Their signs state directly "dont do this" or you will be punished.
No quibbling and cavilling and asking people to be nice.
Just a direct statement what will will happen if you disobey.
No whining that your feelings were hurt.
bah wah wah.
dont tell me what to do.
I am a ruggered indeevidyouall doncha know.

Great to see the piece in yesterdays DOMPOST about Gaylene Dunn.
She was an angel.
She did all the jobs that the snoots thought they were above and she never complained.
Farewell Gaylene.
The folk miss you.

Read this morning that a whole lot of earthquake experts pissed off because their ukases have been ignored.
Well they wont be any more pissed off than the Carterton Police.
An expert turned up there this week and condemned the cell block and the showers because a bit of plaster flaked off in a corner.
So after a hard days night pursuing malefactors they have to let them go and they cant sluice off the ordure.
oooook.

Great night on Telly last night.
feature films all over the place.
Are they playing nice because the country needs a free to air boost or are they just softening people up for xmas.
either way they could do it all year round of the wanted to. Oh no. All the movie libraries in the world have been bought, corporatised  and are now part of somebodies opaque revenue stream and the public good nowhere.

Anyway I got two good VHS's from the Cartertton Family Store today.
One of Patsy Cline and the other George Jones and Tammy Wynette.
There will be a lot of yodelling at my place tonight.

As an aside Willie Nelson does this song called "Dont Knock The Fiddle" which is a plea to let others alone even if you dont like their music.
hmmmm.
Well like Joe Corre who did all the punk stuff in a conflagration not only is punk dead but country music too.
Especially in New Zealand.
Like who is the Carter Family?
did they do Love IN a Foul house?
NO amount of Garth Brooks or Keith Urban will cover that up.
and Tami Nelson cant sing and Bawwy Saunders toons are infantile mush.
Just like once were wooden artefacts now being made of plastic the same thing has happened to music.
And Delaney Davidson and Marlon Williams you gotta do more to the guitar than just strum it.

Lay down your weary tune, lay down

Lay down the song you strum
And rest yourself ’neath the strength of strings
No voice can hope to hum

Struck by the sounds before the sun
I knew the night had gone
The morning breeze like a bugle blew
Against the drums of dawn

Lay down your weary tune, lay down
Lay down the song you strum
And rest yourself ’neath the strength of strings
No voice can hope to hum

The ocean wild like an organ played
The seaweed’s wove its strands
The crashin’ waves like cymbals clashed
Against the rocks and sands

Lay down your weary tune, lay down
Lay down the song you strum
And rest yourself ’neath the strength of strings
No voice can hope to hum

I stood unwound beneath the skies
And clouds unbound by laws
The cryin’ rain like a trumpet sang
And asked for no applause

Lay down your weary tune, lay down
Lay down the song you strum
And rest yourself ’neath the strength of strings
No voice can hope to hum

The last of leaves fell from the trees
And clung to a new love’s breast
The branches bare like a banjo played
To the winds that listened best

I gazed down in the river’s mirror
And watched its winding strum
The water smooth ran like a hymn
And like a harp did hum

Lay down your weary tune, lay down
Lay down the song you strum
And rest yourself ’neath the strength of strings
No voice can hope to hum
