Just bought a scientific American from the throw out pile for 50c.
wherein there is an article that purports to be able to find a gene for any and all varieties for tics.
what a load of twaddle.
any psychiatrist worth their salt knows that a tic is merely a displaced distorted expression of the represed wish to masturbate that is subject to too strong societal and parental prohibitions to touch ones own body in infancy.
q.e.d.
but yet another cadre of ninnies wants to involve the whole scientific machinery for a fruitless quest that does not need answering.
I would not have bothered with this except for a brief on RNZ50 claiming that academics (wow) are worried that MMP has not led to an increase in voting.
well whipty do.
mmp-decline in voting is a category mistake.
they are not connected.
what is causing the decline in voting is the pissweak performance of our politicians and another gang of academics who say that postal voting will take care of it.
yeah right.
voting run by a private firm?
thats the kiwi way.
mate.
the fact of the matter is they dont want people to vote.
they might start making demands and asking for please explains which the current system insulates the legislators from completely.
people are bored with the crap advertising on tv every election that makes the voting more important than the content especially for the holders of the franchise and their income.
bombarding the populace with ads might be the 10dayMBA version of life but it bears no resemblance to reality.
Anybody who watched the voting in recent American presidential elections will have noted the long queues of people who wanted to vote and didnt mind waiting for their turn.
when you have a media in NZ that is desperate on all counts then it becomes obvious that the system has fallen into disrepair and until politicians get back out on the stump and people are stop thinking that voting is an option or a lifestyle choice then the academics can sit back in their ivory towers and bleat all they like.
another helping of the guys with the right stuff
