astrophysics and more...

In John Steinbecks classic sequel to Sweet Thursday, Cannery Row one of the characters, Hazel,  is eligible for the GI Bill and he ticks the first box: Astrophysics. hehehehehe.

I have always wanted to be an astrophysicist too but lack of mathematics and other things that got in the way prevented me taking that course. I have just recieved a survey about attitudes in NZ and yes astrophysics is one of the things I feel I may have been good at (larfs).

However it is possible to follow the main thrust of astronomy and astrophysics in books written by experts for laymen.

Paul Murdins book is a cracker. It leaves one feeling a little inconsequential in the grand scheme of things but one must give thanks just for being here.

letter to Stephen Colbert

 Dear Stephen Colbert

I am writing to you to see if justice can be aired and exposed and righted.

Yours and our friend Jacinda Ardern was hounded day after day with no let up on NZ television by two harpies who have the political reporters jobs on NZTV1 and TV3. jessica mulch and jinna linch. They have used their positions to operate what amounts to a permanent campaign

mulch's husband was Jacindas bodyguard till she gave him the ulimatum her or me!

linchs husband is the campaign manager for the opposition right wing ACT party.

their harrassment has been sly and vicious biased and bogotted and as I read American politics they would not get away with that there.

 please give this some air.

democracy in new zealand...

thisx pair: jessica mukch, top and jinna linch bottom are the two main politicals reporters on New Zealands two main TV stations, TV1  and TV3

mulch;s husband used to be Jacinda Arderns bodyguard till much pried hom off the case and linchs husband is the campaing manager for the right wing opposition ACT party.

Between the two of them they have suborned the media and corrupted their positions as objective journalists.

anywhere else in the world they would have been canned years ago.

How they keep their jobsx is anyones guess

neil young crosby obit...

Neil Young shared these appreciative thoughts on his Archives page about his late bandmate David Crosby...

"David is gone, but his music lives on. The soul of CSNY, David’s voice and energy were at the heart of our band. His great songs stood for what we believed in and it was always fun and exciting when we got to play together. ‘Almost Cut My Hair’ ‘Dejavu’, and so many other great songs he wrote were wonderful to jam on and Stills and I had a blast as he kept us going on and on. His singing with Graham was so memorable, their duo spot a highlight of so many of our shows.
We had so many great times, especially in the early years. Crosby was a very supportive friend in my early life, as we bit off big pieces of our experience together. David was the catalyst of many things.
My heart goes out to Jan and Django, his wife and son. Lots of love to you. Thanks David for your spirit and songs, Love you man. I remember the best times! neil"
Revisiting the music they made together and David's outstanding solo work brings these thoughtful words home.

David Crosby was an inspiration for me, and it turns out that he was to the very last day of his life. Because he was working on his music. Like many colleagues, I too met him and played with him once or twice. I opened up for him as a teenager in Marin County. He was playing solo then in 1980. I mention his name in my upcoming memoir. What struck me most about Croz that night was that he could play solo like he did, and he loved doing it, and the audience loved him doing it. Even after all of those great bands, collaborations, hit songs, vocal harmonies... he was good with the solo thing, too. The beautiful writing, the beautiful voice and his guitar chops with all of the tunings and arrangements he created... it was a full package as a solo, and it was an early inspiration to me that I could play solo shows myself (and did for many years, even though I was in well-known bands before).
We as lovers of music, are losing and going to lose a lot of icons in American music this year and over the next 10 years... A huge amount of great musical artists will pass on. And like you are going to feel, this is going to be really tough. Why are there so many iconic musicians from my era? The baby boomers produced the massive amount of dreamers, the creatives with a musical outlet, and there were a lot of us. It was the birth of rock and roll, where it included all of us. You could be naturally creative as a musician but didn't have to be a "trained" orchestral or jazz musician on a solo instrument to make your way into the mainstream music industry of NY and L.A. as the generation before. It was a coming out party for all, and that chapter is closing now. It will be rough to see it go, but we have to celebrate what this era produced for us. It was amazing. It made us feel something deep inside of us. RIP David Crosby.
