paranoia strikes deep...

reading the case of the "tinder killer" who just got 40 years in NSW for stabbing his ex wifes date to death while they were eating in a public restaurant.

Now this man is not just a 'jealous husband' but a dangerous paranoid.
The reasoning is convoluted but his paranoia can only be seen in his actions.
Paranoids are unconscious passive homosexuals who cannot admit to themselves that that is what they are and will kill to maintain the secret.
They accuse their spouses who are there solely to present to the world the obvious fact that they are not homosexual but when the other breaks free then they accuse them of doing what they want to do which is have sex with other men.
One significant fact is that they always use a knife which symbolises penetration.
These people will even kill anyone they suspect of knowing their 'secret' and are dangerous to unskilled therapists and even highly skilled psychiatrists alike.
Unfortunately paranoia is the hardest psychosis to diagnose and in our specialised and integrated societies it remains hidden until it manifests itself with tragic results.

Our society demands quick fixes for everything these days when in these cases there are none and can never be one.
That social problems can be dealt to with an advertising campaign on teevee is the crudest expression of doing something about it.
The latest fad is to believe that mental illness can be cured by talking about it like some sort of dinner conversation  but until more psychiatrists are trained in psychoanalysis and not just given a book to tread at the end of their degree then these tragedies and other lesser but none the less debilitating mental illnessess will continue to remain undiagnosed with the consequent unhappiness and ruin of lives that could otherwise have some modicum of fullfillment.
