robert hicks...

BARBECUE BOB (1902-1931) aka Robert Hicks was a deep voiced Atlanta, Georgia based guitarist and singer taught how to play the guitar by Curley Weaver's mother, Savannah "Dip" Weaver.
His brother was LAUGHING CHARLEY LINCOLN. Both played a unique sort of frailing, snapping guitar style on the 12-string guitar, in an open tuning with a bottleneck slide.
Barbecue Bob only lived until age 29, but recorded 68 sides for Columbia Records from 1927 until he passed in 1931. He made some memorable records, including "Mississippi Heavy Water Blues," "Motherless Child Blues," and "It Won't Be Long Now (Parts 1 & 2) with his brother (who broke out laughing on the recording).
