way back a long time ago...

the old Cedar broke during the last high winds and the powers have decreed that it is too brittle and dangerous so it must go.
Apparently they are ok in company in a forest but no good when transplanted as stand alone trees.
dang.

it is a real pity as cedar wood is beautiful timber used in ancient days to build Solomons temple in Jerusalem and to make the boats that the phonecians used to sail the mediterranean and even into the atlantic and cornwall looking for tin in the high bronze age!

memo to Phil Goff.
are you listening Phil?

make sure that your tree panting is not only natives.
think yews and elms and oaks and pecans and hickory and sweet chestnuts.
dig.
