what does the future hold....

… the Wairarapa is not alone in the task of leveraging job-rich service sector growth to underpin income-rich GDP growth. This is the fundamental challenge that faces the New Zealand economy.
However,
Berl Report, 2008.

What this means is that the regions of New Zealand are on their own so to speak.
Totally linked to the rise and fall of commodity prices and primary produce.
anything else is a bonus.
I was born and bred in the Wairarapa and have seen hordes of hucksters, carpetbaggers and grifters attach themselves to the local body politic and draw off substantial resources for not very much return.
In my own case I studied economic and business history at Victoria university but the powers that be and their familiars have taken the opinion that I am an unreliable ignoramus.
Well tuff.
Everything you do is limited to a short horizon and everybody carving off as much fat as they can before the next big thing.
yeahhhhhh.
Well you lot better get into a a conflab abd decide wether you want to actually fork our for someone who knows what they are doing or get left in the dust of another barren round of nobodies trying to be somebodies.
Some kids called me GRANDPA the other day and they were right.
Soon I am going to run out of interest and motivation so if you really want it then get your arses into gear and make some decsions.
dig?
