emily simpson, editor sunday magazine...

have to tell you that hippy was derived from hippeis who were the light cavalry advance guard of the ancient Athenian army.
of course they were hip but the goal was to break the dead hand of conformity and the industrial/military complex  with a cultural revolution.
some of it succeeded some didn't but many of the freedoms we enjoy now to express ourselves in music and art and everything are due to the initial thrust of the HIPPEIS.
