lockdown fun...

Scored two doorstopper installments of George Marshalls biography by Forrest Pogue at the Carterton Rotary bookfair last weekend.

They have really come in handy for the lockdown.

Marshall is probably the greatest soldier America ever produced after Washington and his achievements are monumental. He ran the war from Washington and never got to lead the armies in the field but that matters little in comparison with his efforts to obtain ultimate victory.

He chose his subordinates on the basis of character, courage and competency.

To measure oneself against these three words is quite an exercise.

The bottom picture is Mathew Ridgway. The fighting general. they talk of Patton and Eisenhower but Ridgway was THE MAN! He got it done.

I have The Best Of Country Fiddle on the media player and a  version of Red Haired Boy off one of those weird compilations. hehehe.

now for something completely different...
