the altar song. RIP Stepehn Birmingham. + this that and the other thing...

Vincent Cronin.

Isaac Newton

Karl has just got back from the USA.
sounds like he had a good time.
I hope he had Ambrose Bierce and Stephen Birmingham in his backpack for a read along the way.
RE 'Our Crowd', most of them cashed out years ago when brokerage houses were allowed to dissolve the partnerships and to sell shares in their own businesses.
Now they live in isolation in New York Brownstones and have their own 12 step clubs called Dough-Nuts.
hehehehehehehe.

Re noise;
NOISE, n. A stench in the ear. Undomesticated music. The chief product and authenticating sign of civilization.
Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary
US author & satirist (1842 - 1914)

Isaac Newton said that he was just a midget on the shoulders of giants.
Well the midgets have got smaller and smaller and all they can do now is make a bigger and bigger noise to pretend that that is the size of their willies!
hehehehehehehe.

Am reading Vincent Cronins book on the Florentine Renaissance.
What a cracker.
Its been laying around the house for about a year now and I finally got around to it.
Great stuff. And he wrote several more including a bio on Napoleon.
Must look out for that.
We were brought up as good little anglophiles to believe that Napoleon was almost the devil incarnate and it is hard to shake that sort of indoctrination but he was a great man.

back to ADHD.
Talked to a chap yesterday who spent several northern summers as a counsellor in up state New York summer camps for rich jewish kids.
The consensus there was that ADHD was an invention of lazy pandering Manhattan doctors to the rich who did not have enough strength of character to tell people that they were just plain bad parents.
So in New Zealand it has now become a nice little earner for lower socio economic parents to sell of their kids Ritalin on the black market and their kids are still just fair little bastards!

now for something completely different...
