walter isaacson; da vinci...

Lugged this doorstopper home from the library the other day. Printed on glossy paper so twice as heavy as it could have been.

Went to the index to see what his view on Freuds analysis of da vinci was. Not good. He rubbished most of it and went on to say that it was dangerous to psychoanalyse someone 400 years after the fact but that seems to jibe with his position of writing history 400 years after the event. And later on he uses  freudian technique to bolster his own arguments and theories????????

Google would not deliver a bio of isaacson but it did list his books one of which purports to examine innovation which he confusese with invention. hmmm.

I have read his tome on Steve Jobs which is a hairs breadth away from being a hatchet job of his own but I will have another go at finding a bio and see if the library has any more of his stuff tomorrow .

ah let google reset and got the wiki bio and realised that I do have a copy of the Wise Men which is extremely valuable  for anyone interested in global politics after ww2 and the cold war. great stuff for those of us who read Time magazine back in the day but no backstory. Its all there.
