truth and character...

Just arrived in town on the bus.
nice ride.
everything green and a fresh in the streams and the waignawa river.
soft light through the cloudcover and then full sunlight.
nice.
the weekend news.
somebody going on about the opulence of kiwi residences but no books once you get inside.
kiwis love to practice the external referent.
i.e. if I have a big house then I am a big guy.
if I have a hotrod or an expensive car then I am a either wonderful or I am a big guy.
yeah right.
the other one is the use of interrogatives.
sometimes it is possible to think that one is living in a 2nd grade pommie soap reality programme.
innit?
"Its never ending isnt it, this wretched global recession"

well are you asking us or telling us?
If you are telling us then is that all?
If you are asking us then is your word enough to base an opinion on?
The same thing with rugby where they make much of "CHARACTER".
Before the game on Saturday night Liam Messam used an interrogative and in the after match interview Steve Hansen used one.
The thing is if one has real character then one can speak for oneself without asking anyone else to agree with you.
Interrogatives are disrespectful, dishonest and an invalid mode of argument and anyone using them should know that.
They are really an indication of a lack of character and a verbal device used most often to bully others into agreeing without time for reflection or consideration of the evidence.
but hey.
Thats the kiwi way.
Mate.
Isn't it?

and speaking of validity the word racism denotes the use of an invalid inference that says if one member of a race is this or that then all members of that race are this or that.
So if Susan Devoy who does not seem to have any qualifications in logic wants to keep an eye on Winston Peters then she better be damn sure of what sort of charge she wants to lay and also be sure that a member of parliament is not gagged by any functionary otherwise she might find herself getting the bums rush..

Had to laugh at Steven spielberg moaning about Hollywood in Saturdays Dompost.
It is obvious that the place is in thrall to infantilised accountants who believe in more is better and are pandering to children like granparents bribing the grandkids to LOVE them.
Hollywood hasnt made a decdent drama since who knows when and the moguls in charge are busy wringing the last penny off every point but the story has gone.
They are like the Italians in the 17th century who refused to stop making cannons out of bronze after the resto f the world had switched to iron.
They are now suffering from gigantism and obsolescence at the same time.
hmmmmmmm.
anybody who has read the meta-histories of Hollywood including the opus by Hortense Powdermaker will know that the after the demise of the Studios as real studios the quality has been in a steadily descending downward spiral.
Same as everything else.

so can anyone tell me which movies the 'kidz' will remember in twenty years time.
Some overblown production or some quality drama.
and BTW I include Galaxy Quest in the quality drama category and not in the shitpile.

now for something completely different...
